Newcastle is a harbour city in the Australian state of New South Wales. Its plentiful beaches are linked by the Bathers Way, a coastal walk stretching between Nobbys Beach and Merewether Beach. The walk provides access to Bogey Hole, a convict-built ocean bath from the colonial period. Also on the path is the 1880s Fort Scratchley, a historic site and a viewpoint for spotting migrating whales

• Beaumont Street Precinct. Intermingled with its countless restaurants and take-aways, are a varied mix of retail, fashion and commercial outlets along with services such as pharmacies, banks, florists, hairdressers, fruit shops and delicatessens. All combined, a visit to Beaumont Street, Hamilton is a lasting memory… Come and experience for yourself today!
• Nobbys Beach First beach on the Bather’s Way coastal walk. Accessible from Newcastle train station and coach terminal. Picnic shelters and kiosk available, (during swimming season) at the beach. Change room facilities available. Free BBQs on foreshore area adjoining beach reserve. The walk between Nobbys Beach and Newcastle Ocean baths features the Historic Soldier’s Baths Rock Pool.

Weather

Newcastle enjoys a sunny, Mediterranean climate all year round with more than 340 sunny days per year. Summers are warm to hot and winters are mild, with rainfall spread fairly evenly throughout the year. Slightly more rain falls during the first half of the year. In summer (December – February), average maximum temperatures are around 25°C. It can also be humid at this time with an average humidity of 71 per cent. Average maximum temperatures in the winter months (June-August) are around 17°C.
