Setting Homestay Standards Since 2006
Australian Homestay Network (AHN) was formed to provide international students with a high standard of homestay accommodation after identifying the lack of quality homestay accommodation options in the market.
In 2006, it was recognised that Australia had no governing standards for service, quality, and safety of homestay for international students. There needed to be focus on rebuilding and regulating the homestay industry.
By 2008, the Australian Homestay Network (AHN) was formed and developed appropriate national standards for homestay. The approach was based on accountability, system integrity, transparency, personalised services, safety, insurance, and a 24/7 professional support line. In Septemer 2008, AHN placed its first international student into homestay.
In 2012 AHN entered into the American market and helped to form the American Homestay Network (AHN-USA). AHN-USA adapted and introduced an American version of Australia’s standards, technology and best practices for both international students and other homestay guests.
AHN has quickly become Australia’s largest and leading homestay provider, and operates in most states and territories throughout Australia, processing over 10,000 applications annually. With its dedicated staff of Customer Care Managers, Host Managers, State Managers and support teams, AHN strives to ensure that all international students will have the best cultural experience when choosing us as their accommodation of choice whilst studying in Australia.”
