La Trobe Melbourne in association with Australian Homestay Network (AHN)
La Trobe Melbourne has teamed up with the Australian Homestay Network (AHN) to give international students the opportunity to be hosted by a specially trained AHN Homestay Host for their introduction to accommodation and living in Australia.
AHN is considered to be the leading Australian Homestay Manager and is committed to meeting the well-published Australian Homestay Standards. AHN has been chosen by the College to ensure the best welcoming experience possible for international students.
AHN Homestay is a unique way for students, studying in Australian education institutions, to find safe and comfortable accommodation at very affordable rates.
This is a value for money and a very affordable option for securing safe and comfortable accommodation in a friendly home environment with a fully trained AHN host family. There are several Homestay package options to choose from to enable students to budget accordingly with meal inclusions differing in each package.
The AHN Homestay provides all students with:
- A safe and secure bedroom
- Accommodation inclusive of all utilities (ie – electricity, gas, water)
- Host families will provide the student with an area for their own food and use of their kitchen facilities for cooking.
- Full AHN insurance coverage, including personal liability, contents insurance and public liability for host families.
- Full management of all payments and receipts
- 24/7 Emergency assistance
- A fully trained host family who is able to assist with cultural exchange, including orientation of the local community.
AHN Homestay is better value for money than entering into a private rental accommodation. You will only be required to pay a small one-off placement fee upfront which helps us get you the right placement and you avoid complicated and expensive Bond payments.
AHN has hosts available in areas close to major education providers and public transport. Meal options are also available for additional charges.
AHN Homestay is a wonderful way to experience living in Australia and a great way to meet new friends and create your own ‘Australian family’.
AHN Homestay hosts will also help you with advice on independent long term accommodation options if required.
It’s Interesting and Fun
Enjoy everyday activities with your AHN homestay Host including:
- Being shown around the community
- Help with the basics of Australian culture
- Taking part in everyday conversation
- Learning basics such as buying transport tickets, where the local shops are, how to access banking, internet, mobile phone and personal safety tips
- Help with English and ‘Aussie’ words and phrases
- Ongoing support and backup from the Australian Homestay Network (AHN)
